The Sun Betrayed Us

The Sun Betrayed Us
We raised him, the sun
We praised him, the sun
We applauded him
At the peaks of our mountains
In our churches
In our dialogues
The Sun, the Sun, the Sun

He was good
Silent, polite, just good
He was promising
Good yields, vitamin D
A bright future was
To the Sun, the Sun, the Sun

At some point
That shoulder muscle
Curved with the spine
He has been frequenting
The gym, yes
The Sun, the Sun, the Sun

Why can’t you
At least shave it off
That little bush upstairs?
The betrayal started
Oh the Sun, the Sun, the Sun

Perhaps an unexpected
Flip in the earth’s rotation
Made that change
The unavoidable damage
To the Sun, yes the Son

He will lie and
Be silent
He will see and not hear
He will touch
And never feel a thing
Damned Son, Son, Sun

They will throw those
Quick scoffing glances
At the Son, the Sun
They will feel wasted
Every little effort
Nullified by the actions
The evil actions of the Sun

Shall it be, tell me
That its glare
Is going to hide
The shame, agonizing
Shame to the sun
The Son betrayed us
